Today we are celebrating our Apprentice Cost Consultant, Dan Parsons, who has been part of the Coreus team for almost two years now. We couldn’t be prouder of how he has thrived during this time, both in his career and as an individual.

.As part of #NAW2022, we’ve decided to #AskAnApprentice a few questions, to raise awareness of the amazing career opportunities that can be achieved through apprenticeship programmes.

.

How have the last two years been as an Apprentice Cost Consultant?

My confidence has grown massively. I am now able to produce cost plans and complete valuations with very little assistance. I can also fully contribute to client faced meetings, presenting work from both myself and the team. I’m also really enjoying my Quantity Surveying Degree at the University College of Estate Management, with modules ranging from construction technology to commercial management.

I feel extremely lucky to be a part of a company that prioritises the learning of its team, with Coreus always supporting me through flexible working through degree.

.

What’s the best part of being an apprentice?

The best part for me is that I am not only learning valuable skills but also gaining on the job experience, all during the time I would have been in Higher Education!

One of my concerns before starting was that I would miss out on university life, but working for a fun, young company like Coreus means I am never short of activities to do outside of work. I have also made some friends for life.

.

What advice would you give to those considering an apprenticeship?

My advice is go for it! I took the plunge almost two years ago, and haven’t looked back since.
